2019 Dairy Queen and Princess Competition
In conjunction with the 2019 Malanda Show the Show Society will once again host the Dairy Queen and Princess Competition. The 2019 event is again a significant event for our community as it will be 100 years since the Show commenced on the current grounds. Plans for the milestone event are well underway and whilst we celebrate the past we must embrace the future of this event and help to ensure it continues to evolve. In previous years the community has rallied behind the young entrants who have stood out of their comfort zone and supported our community.
There are two age group categories and each have specific criteria Please refer to the nomination details for full conditions of entry. The two categories of ‘Princess’ & ‘Queen’ require a sponsor. We intend for this experience to be beneficial for both the Queen entrants and their sponsors. The sponsors can expect to be mentioned throughout the marketing process of the competition. Princess and Queen entrants need to consider what they can offer to their sponsors. As a sponsor this is an excellent opportunity to have your entrant around town promoting your business!
The theme for the 2019 Malanda Show is “Heroes”. Super heroes, emergency services, armed forces or even local heroes. Get the thinking caps on for float ideas- ‘Heroes’ offer a broad spectrum of creative themes and remember there is float competitions to be won as well. Remember a float doesn’t have be a monstrosity and there is also a ‘Best Vintage Car’ Award too so don’t let the preperations of a float turn you away from joining the fun. A new component of the Street Parade this year will be a Best Dress Costume this could be anyone on any float.
We ask that sponsors please negotiate with their entrant how they can assist them with the costs associated with this competition. Please discuss this with your entrant.
