What is the Rural & Junior Rural Ambassador Competition?
Malanda Show Society proudly presents the Rural & Junior Rural Ambassador competition, specially tailored for individuals aged between 15 and 30. The aim of the Rural Ambassador Competition is to acknowledge upcoming young leaders who make valuable contributions to their community, the Agricultural Show Movement and Rural & Primary Industries.
The Queensland Rural Ambassador Awards is the preeminent rural and agricultural leadership program for men and women aged between 20 and 30. Run by Queensland Ag Shows since 2003, the Queensland Rural Ambassador Awards allow young people to promote Queensland, agriculture, rural communities and show societies, while providing an avenue for local communities and Ag Shows to recognise, celebrate and develop future leaders.
There are four levels to the Rural Ambassador Awards – Local, Sub Chamber (Regional), State and National. The winner of the Malanda Show Rural Ambassador Competition, then has the opportunity to represent Malanda Show at the North Queensland Sub Chamber Finals held in 2025.
In conjunction with the 2024 Malanda Show the Show Society will once again host the Rural & Junior Rural Ambassador Competition. In previous years the community has rallied behind the young entrants who have stood out of their comfort zone and supported our community.
There are two age group categories, and each have specific criteria. Both categories require a sponsor. We intend for this experience to be beneficial for both the entrants and their sponsors. The sponsors can expect to be mentioned throughout the marketing process of the competition. Entrants need to consider what they can offer to their sponsors. As a sponsor this is an excellent opportunity to have your entrant around town promoting your business!

Nominations close 5pm Sunday 28th April 2024. Nominations can either be emailed to info@malandashow.com.au or delivered to the Malanda Show Office (Monday, Wednesday & Fridays’: 9am – 12pm)
